2025 Region 9 Baseball Players of the Week
Week 1 - 1/27/25 to 2/2/25
Pitcher -This week’s Pitcher of the Week comes to us from Northeastern Junior College, claiming pitcher of the week honors from NJC was freshman RHP Gavin Lamont, in his outing over the weekend Gavin received a no decision against New Mexico Military Institute while throwing 4.1 innings while only giving up two hits, two runs, both unearned, while walking only one and striking out six.
Player - This week’s Player of the Week comes to us from Trinidad State College, 3B Dylan Chopp, Chopp lead the Trojan offense in their weekend series against El Paso Community College. Over the weekend Chopp went 4-11 with all four of his hits going for extra bases. On the weekend he hit three doubles and also cleared the bases with a Grand Slam Home Run. Dylan also collected two walks and had four RBI on the weekend.
Week 2 - 2/3/25 to 2/9/25
Pitcher - This week's Pitcher of the Week comes to us from Western Nebraska Community College, claiming pitcher of the week honors that week is sophomore RHP Clayden Brandon, Brandon picked up the win on the mound for WNCC. In his 5.0 innings of work over the weekend Brandon did not give up a run while only giving up three hits, Clayden also didn't walk a batter in his outing while striking out four.
Player - This week's Player of the Week comes to us from Lamar Community College, sophomore first baseman Eduardo Cardenes was hot at the plate in his three games played over the weekend. Cardenes hit .625 collecting five hits in his eight at-bats. Eduardo also collected three extra base hits including two doubles and a home run while driving in four. He also reached base two more times via a hit by pitch.
Week 3 - 2/10/25 to 2/16/25
Pitcher - This week’s Pitcher of the Week comes to us from Lamar Community College, claiming pitcher of the week honors that week is sophomore RHP Manny Garcia, In their weekend series with Frank Phillips Manny picked up the win on the mound for LCC. In his 5.0 innings of work over the weekend Garcia gave up three earned runs, while giving up six hits with one walk and eight strikeouts.
Player - This week’s Player of the Week comes to us from Trinidad State College, freshman third baseman Dylan Chopp was hot at the plate in his games vs. Utah Eastern State over the weekend. Chopp hit .533 going 8-15 over the weekend while also collecting four extra base hits, three doubles and a home run, while also driving in four runs.
Week 4 - 2/17/25 to 2/23/25
Pitcher - This week's Pitcher of the Week comes to us from Otero College, claiming pitcher of the week honors that week is sophomore RHP Jaiden Villarreal, in their weekend series Jaiden picked up the win on the mound for OC. In his 6.0 innings of work in his start over the weekend Villarreal did not give up an earned run while giving up seven hits, walking two, and striking out six hitters.
Player - This week's Player of the Week comes to us from McCook Community College, sophomore DH Cory Wouters had a big weekend at the plate. Wouters who reached base a consecutive 13 times over the weekend with 10 hits and three walks, hit .714 for the week (10-14) with three doubles, three home runs, 7 runs scored, while driving in 10 runs over the weekend series. A two way player Cory also had a nice start picking up the win in his start throwing 4 innings, giving up no hits and striking out 10 .
Week 5 - 2/24/25 to 3/2/25
Pitcher - This week's Pitcher of the Week comes to us from Lamar Community College, claiming pitcher of the week honors that week is sophomore RHP Adan Young, during the week series Young had two starts for the Runnin Lopes, Adan started against both NMMI and Colby In his 9.0 innings of work he gave up only two earned runs on six hits while only walking one hitter and striking out nine. On the week Young picked up one victory and a no decision.
Player - This week's Player of the Week comes to us from Trinidad State College, for the Trojans against Frank Phillips, Silas Hilton proved to be a tough out. Hilton hit an impressive .818 over the weekend going 9-11, he also collected three extra base hits with a 3B and two HR's. Silas scored six times and drove in seven runs to pace the Trinidad offense in their weekend series.
Week 6 - 3/3/25 to 3/9/25
Pitcher - This week's Pitcher of the Week comes to us from McCook Community College, claiming pitcher of the week honors this week is freshman RHP Landon Molloy. In his start over the past week Molloy picked up the win in shutout fashion, Landon threw 5 innings while only allowing two hits while not giving up any runs. He also struck out six hitters while not walking anyone.
Player - This week's Player of the Week comes to us from Northeastern Junior College, Hudson Hoy helped paced the Plainsman offense in their 3-1 weekend series. Hoy hit a blistering .615 (8-13) with five of those hits going for extra bases including three home runs, a double and triple. Hudson also scored seven runs, while driving in eight runs, Hoy stole three bases as well to cap off his excellent weekend at the plate.
Week 7 - 3/10/25 to 3/16/25
Pitcher - This week's Pitcher of the Week comes to us from McCook Community College, claiming pitcher of the week honors this week is freshman RHP Aviv Bobrov. In his start over the past week Bobrov picked up by in complete game shutout fashion. Aviv threw 7 innings while only allowing two hits. Bobrov didn't give up any runs while walking 2 and striking out 11 opposing hitters.
Player - This week's Player of the Week comes to us from Western Nebraska Community College, Landon Lockwood had a monster week for the Cougars during their spring break trip to Arizona. Lockwood hit a blistering .429 on 9 hits, including 7 extra base hits. Landon tallied 5 doubles and 2 Home Runs while producing 9 RBI while also scoring 4 runs to cap off an excellent weekend at the plate
Week 8 - 3/17/25 to 3/23/25
Pitcher - This week's Pitcher of the Week comes to us from Lamar Community College, claiming pitcher of the week honors this week is Brayden Keeter. In his start over the past weekend in Region vs. Trinidad State Brayden picked up the win going 5 innings while only allowing 2 hits and 1 run. Keeter was also dominate in the zone only walking one hitter while striking out 10.
Player - This week's Player of the Week comes to us from Northeastern Junior College, it would be hard to find a bigger week than NJC's Mike Clark, in their six games, all victories, Clark led the Plainsman offense while hitting .541 (13-24) and also reached base an additional 5 times. Over the six games Clark scored a whooping 15 runs, while hitting 2 doubles, 4 Home Runs, and driving in 19. To cap the week Clark also stole 7 bases.
Week 9 - 3/24/25 to 3/30/25
Pitcher - This week's Pitcher of the Week comes to us from McCook Community College, claiming pitcher of the week honors this week is freshman RHP Landon Molloy. In his start over the past weekend in region play vs. Western Nebraska Molloy picked up the win in complete game fashion, starting game 2 Molloy tossed 9 shutout innings in the 4-0 victory. In the game Landon gave up 7 hits while not allowing a run, only walking 2 while striking out 10.
Player - This week's Player of the Week comes to us from Otero College, Kieta Fujino completed the rare feat of hitting for the cycle for the Rattlers last week. A huge accomplishment in itself was only part of his hot week at the plate. Fujino hit .727 on the week (16-22) over Otero's 6 games in which they went 4-2 on the week. Kieta's week also included 6 extra base hits, including 4 doubles, 1 triple, and a home run. Fujino also scored 7 runs and drove in 7 runs while walking once. Congrats on hitting for the cycle and a great week at the plate.
Week 10 - 3/31/25 to 4/6/25
Pitcher - This week's Pitcher of the Week comes to us from Western Nebraska Community College, claiming pitcher of the week honors this week in complete game shutout fashion is RHP Clayden Brandon. In his start over the past weekend in region play vs Lamar Community College, Brandon picked up the win throwing seven innings of one hit baseball. Clayden didn't allow a run and also didn't walk anyone in the game while striking out 10 opposing hitters.
Player - This week's Player of the Week makes it two weeks in a row that the region player of the week has hit for the cycle in a game. This week Cory Wouters of McCook Community College hit for the cycle in McCook's midweek game vs Colby Community College. Wouters finished off the week hitting .684 (13-19) in five games. He also racked up the extra base hits with 4 doubles, 1 triple, and 3 home runs. Cory drove in ten runs, while scoring seven times, walking three times and getting hit twice.
Week 11 - 4/7/25 to 4/13/25
Pitcher - This week's Pitcher of the Week comes to us from Western Nebraska Community College, RHP Roco Harmon claimed pitcher of the week this week for his Region start picking up the win. Harmon threw 6 innings while only giving up 2 hits and not allowing a run. Rocco also controlled the zone in his start only walking one hitter while striking out 7.
Player - This week's Player of the week comes to us from Lamar Community College. This week Eliseo Ramirez hit .538 over Lamar's four games over the weekend in Region play. Ramirez hit .538 while collected 7 hits on the weekend including 4 extra base hits with 2 doubles and 2 home runs,. Eliseo also drove in 7 runs while scoring 5 times himself and also walking once.
Week 12 - 4/14/25 to 4/20/25
Pitcher - This week's Pitcher of the Week comes to us from McCook Community College, Right Hander Aviv Bobrov finished off 5 innings of no hit baseball before leaving with an injury that didn't allow him to try to finish off the no hitter. Bobrov threw 5 innings in his region start unblemished, no hits, no runs, no walks, while striking out 7 hitters. McCook finished the game only allowing one hit on the day in the win.
Player - This week's Player of the week comes to us from Northeastern Junior College, over the weekend in their four game weekend region series Tanner Peerey lead NJC to a 3 and 1 weekend series win. Tanner hit .563, 9 for 16 on the weekend, while scoring 8 runs and driving in 11, Peerey added 4 extra base hits with 2 doubles and 2 home runs while also causing havoc in the bases by stealing 4 bags.
Week 13 - 4/21/25 to 4/27/25
Pitcher - This week's Pitcher of the Week comes to us from McCook Community College, Right Hander Aviv Bobrov makes if back-to-back weeks for him, Aviv followed up his 5-inning perfect start last week with another 7-inning shutout this weekend. In his start on Saturday Bobrov threw 7 shutout innings while only giving up 3 hits, he also only walked 1 hitter while striking out 11.
Player - This week's Player of the week comes to us from Northeastern Junior College, making it back-to-back weeks that the Plainsmen have had a position player claim hitter of the week honors. It was a monumental week to Brayden Stufft as he broke the NJC single season stolen base record as he stole his 40th bag of the year, that broke the old record that stood for 18 years. Stufft also hit .667 on the weekend going 8-12 while scoring 7 runs, driving in 6, with 2 doubles and two Home Runs.
Week 14 - 4/28/25 to 5/4/25
Pitcher - This week's Pitcher of the Week comes to us from Northeastern Junior College, Ondrej Vank had an excellent outing in his weekend start, in the last week of region play Vank brought his "A" game. He tossed 8 shutout innings in route to his team's shutout victory. Vank got the win while only giving up 3 hits. Ondrej showed excellent control as well as he did not walk a batter while striking out 10 opposing hitters.
Player - This week's Player of the Week comes to us from McCook Community College, sophomore Cory Wouters had a big weekend at the dish hitting .529 for the week with 9 hits in 17 at bats. Wouters also tallied 4 extra base hits including a double and 3 home runs, while also drawing 5 walks. More impressive was Wouters drove in 12 runs over the weekend in route to breaking McCook CC single season RBI record now with 91 on the year, which broke the previous record of 82.
